The Piano Method

The controversy arising from the fact that some musicians can play piano beautifully without even knowing a single note on the stave wheras others can only play from the sheet music is long debated and still unsolved.

Our method is combining both.

 It is important that you ( parent/student) should be aware of general principles of our method.

 

  1. For the beginners who are usually 6-7 years old our program introduces easy to follow songs that are taught by rote and learned by memory which enables children to quickly achieve technical skills and developes their musicality and sense of rhythm.

  2. While reading the notation is introduced from lesson one it is treated as additional skill which does not overshadow the actual playing by ear and improvising.

  3. Each lesson is carefully designed to encompass technical and sight reading skills as well as Theory, the latter in form of vocabulary and written exercises.

  4. Every 6th lesson in a half term is arranged as Theory and Aural training and it is run as group lesson (3-6 students). These are vital to the development of their musical skills and are tested on ABRSM Examinations. At the same time, group lessons are important for children to interact with their peers and perform in front of each other. Group lessons are 1 hour long so you get 2x30min tuition for the price of one! Happy days!

  5. It takes from 6 to 12 months for the average pupil to reach the technical standard of ABRSM Grade1 and from that point we introduce current ABRSM Syllabus.

  6. We organise separate parents meetings in order to establish close relationship between parent and teacher.

  7. Our policy is that of transparency. While detailed assessement of students and personal informations are not disclosed we encourage everyone to share the results of examinations and achievements between pupils and parents.

 

Our aim is to establish a community of ambitious young performers as well as parents who care about aiming high and following this amazing path that one day may result in their children pursuing the career in music.
