Examinations
Before we decided on Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music we had undertaken an extensive research into different organisations that are evaluating young performers and issue Certificates that are a conspicous proof of achievement. There are many of them throughout the UK such as Trinity College London, London College of Music, Victoria College.
ABRSM is 130 years old and this means enormous experience and professionalism.
The Board offers clearly designed program, variety of styles and technical choice to support the Pieces on each level.
There is an abundance of resources and the standards are set not only for this country but parts of the world as far as Singapore and Hong Kong.
In order to create young performers they ( The Board)recruit, guide and provide curriculum for thousands of teachers at the same time establishing a community of educators who aim high.
And this is exactly our fundamental intent.
There are some vital information that teachers, parents and students should read.
1. The Practical Exams run 3 times in a shool year :
*Spring session 15.03 – 10.04.
*Summer Session 15.06 – 15.07
*Autumn Session 15.011 – 10.12
2. Parents are responsible for taking their children to and from the Exam venue.
3. The submitting forms is around 2 months before the actual Exam and while we make every effort to book later dates it could not be guaranteed and the program should be prepared well in advance.
4. Parents must remember to bring Pieces Book on the day.
5. Teachers are not usually present at the Exam but it is their discretion if they want to participate. We feel that it boosts children’s confidence if they accomplish their Exam without teacher’s encouragement and assurance.
6. Chnildren should dress smart for the exam but not too eccentric – school uniforms are perfectly all right.
7. Exam fees have to be paid at least 2 weeks before Exam booking deadline.
8. Exams can not be rescheduled or postponed after booking.
9. The fees are not refundable.
10. The certificates are sent to the teacher and handed over to pupils on a school Assembly.
