About

Liliana Warda

My name is Liliana Warda and I was educated in Warsaw (Poland) where I obtained Diploma in Piano and Flute in 1981. Since moving to the UK I have accomplished various music courses including Harmony and Counterpoint, Musical Analysis and Piano Jazz Improvisation (City Lit and Fulham and Chelsea College). In 2006 I accomplished ABRSM Certificate of Teaching.

My association with teaching started very early as  this proffession has long established roots in my family.

Teaching two instruments (piano and flute) has given me an insight into workings of  cognitive and intuitive parts of the human brain. I also deepen my subject knowledge by reading extensively works of well known music educators such as George Oldham or Keith Swanwick as well as psychology books.

Since working in main streem school environment I have developed an efficient and compact formulae of one to one and group lessons which resulted in hundereds of my students obtaining ABRSM Graded Examinations.(Grades1-8)

I constantly develop my methods and approaches towards teaching music and maintain close cooperation with the Board by participating in various Seminars.

For last 4 years I’ve been taking active part in faciliating ABRSM Theory Exams in Wembley area as Honorary Local Representative.

Throughout past 20 years I have used number of tutor books which were badly designed, confusing and misleading. This eventually inspired me to start designing my own finger drills and Theory hand-outs that I have been using for many years untill I decided to put them all in one coherent Piano Tutor Book.

Thanks to my nephew Philip Warda (whom I have taught piano and flute) who has joined me in this endavour with his own experience and expertise, especially when it comes to IT skills, we can now confidently train new devoted teachers and offer them framework for ambitious piano class in any school any time.

As a family – including my sister Margaret who is a opera singer and also teacher – we have enjoyed making music in form of family performances, playing in a Church Mass and organising concerts in various venues in London for many years.

It’s been a vital part of our lives and we both would like to create opportunities for our students to engage in musical activities on many different levels.

Hopefully this website will make our dream come true and the interactive exchange between parents and pupils will enhance their lives with profound experiences as it has done to our family.

The future activities can include organising and going to concerts, recomending books to read and songs to play – there is nothing more enjoyable in life!
